Picking The Right Paint Color
|
If you are looking for an inexpensive way of dramatically changing the look of a room or rooms within you home then why not add a touch of color. As you will soon discover there are hundreds of different paint colors available, so actually choosing the right one can be extremely frustrating. However below we provide some tips which should make choosing the right colors for your interior design scheme. Before you start you will need to look at the room in question to see how the color will be used. The one you use will depend on a number of factors. 1. Where the color will be used in the room. 2. How big or small the room is. By placing a dark color in a small room you will only make it look even smaller. However using a lighter color will help to expand it. Whilst if your room is large then by using a dark color you will make it feel much cozier. 3. You need to look at any architectural details that are within the room such as moldings, trims, columns or brackets. 4. Also look for what the room is going to be used for. For example if you are redecorating your bedroom then may be going for a warm tone within the room will make it feel more comfortable and relaxing than if you were to go for a vibrant or cooler color. Now when you have taken the above factors in to consideration you can start to select the paint. Below are some tips which should help you to choose the right ones for your scheme. 1. Whilst out shopping if you can take a sample of the fabric, tile, carpet or wallpaper that you will using in the scheme and look at those paints you are interested in to see if they complement the overall effect of the room that you are trying to achieve. 2. Look at the various colors and study them carefully but do not forget to include those tones that are slightly different from the original color you had chosen. Even if you are considering a somewhat lighter tone than some that you have seen then it may be well worth considering these also. 3. Instead of sticking to the usual color of white or off white for the moldings and doors and windows why not be a little braver and go for something a little more adventurous instead. Go for a shade that is paler than that which you have chosen for the walls as this will provide you with a much more striking effect to the room. By keeping these points in mind you should be able to find some paint colors which will not only complement your interior design scheme perfectly but will also bring life in to the room as well. |
