Add A French Country Kitchen To Your Home

When it comes to choosing a kitchen design for your home you must remember that it has a particular role to play. Not only is it a place where food will be prepared but for many households today it has become the heart of their home. There are lots of different designs a person can choose from which will make their kitchen feel warm and inviting as well as still remaining functional. However in this article we will be taking a closer look at a design known as French Country kitchen.

This is one of the most classical of all kitchen designs and will provide it with a look that is not only very traditional but has it roots firmly set in the rural regions of France. This particular design sits comfortably in any style of home from a farmhouse to a palatial mansion.

Often when a person thinks of the French country style they will have images of Provence come into their mind. This particular design you will soon discover once you begin to look more closely at it is not only very rustic but adds a sense of age and warmth to any kitchen. But there are many factors which need to be taken into consideration in order to ensure that you get the design exactly right.

Firstly color is extremely important in any kitchen designed on this theme. The best place to start looking for inspiration is at the paintings produced by such impressionist artists like Monet, Van Gogh and Renoir. Often the main colors to be used in any French Country kitchen design are bright or rust reds, sunny (not bright) yellows, green the color of grass, cobalt blue and soft gold and ocean tones.

As well as the colors a person should only be looking to use natural materials within their kitchen design. You should therefore be looking to have say natural stone floors along with granite worktops and splash backs made from marble. Whilst the wood of the cabinets and the furniture can either left in a natural state and just stained or painted using only natural colors. If you want you can even provide the furniture and cabinets within the room with a distressed look. However if you feel that marble splash backs along with natural stone floors may be too dark and heavy for your kitchen instead use ceramic tiles for the splash backs.

Finally to really add a little bit of authenticity to your French country kitchen design you need to include a few accents. The most extensively used types of accents in such a kitchen include rustic urns along with ceramic and terra cotta pottery. Plus copper pots can add to the overall charm of the kitchen design as well. By keeping these points in mind you should soon be on your way to designing the perfect French country kitchen for your home.
