Contemporary Furniture And Interior Decorating
|
The use of contemporary furniture within the home can provide you with a distinctive look that really accentuates modern living as we know it today. Certainly this type of furniture is very simple and has sleek lines that will appeal to those who like a more basic or minimalistic look to their homes. When it comes to the coloring used in a contemporary design scheme then muted and earth tones can be used but people can also use much bolder and brighter tones as well to make a focal point within the room. But what should be remembered that when using contemporary designs within a room less is more and below we take a look at the various elements that need to be included within the design of a contemporary room. As previously mentioned all the furniture within the room should have simple sleek lines and they should come in muted colors. Preferably it is best to use browns or beiges and to add depth to the room use various shades of the same color within the room. Also the textures that you use within your design should reflect this cool and clean feel that you are trying to achieve. If you want to add some color to your room then go for one piece of furniture of a painting within the room to provide that bold touch and focal point. So if you have gone for more muted beiges and creams to the look then why not include a red sofa into the equation. As well as using bold colors of your contemporary furniture you can go for more neutral colors such as black or white. Placing these with some very beautiful pieces of art and accessories such as lamps in either chrome or stainless steel will add a further touch of the contemporary look to the room. It is important that you keep the accessories to a minimum and try to place the lighting in strategic places around the room which will then accentuate certain focal features within it. The ideal way of achieving this is through the use of up lighters which can reflect off the walls and ceilings and still provide ambience to the room without actually making it feel dark and dreary and cold. A good set of up lighters located at various locations around the room will then bring warmth into a room which may well look stark and uninviting to some. |
